NMDC commissions 2 MTPA pellet plant at Nagarnar as part of ₹5,427 crore iron ore project in Bastar

On 27 September 2026 NMDC Ltd commissioned its 2 MTPA pellet plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh, part of a ₹5,427 crore project linking its Bacheli iron ore operations with its Nagarnar steel plant.

Summary

The integrated project includes a new iron ore processing plant at Bacheli, a 135 km, 15 MTPA slurry pipeline carrying iron ore concentrate from Bacheli to Nagarnar instead of by road, and the pellet plant, which uses Straight Grate Induration technology. It lets NMDC turn iron ore fines and slimes from its Bailadila mines into concentrate and pellets. Chairman and Managing Director Amitava Mukherjee monitored the first production live from headquarters.
