The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved an annual master plan for the River Cities Alliance (RCA) for 2025, covering capacity-building programmes, knowledge exchange, technical tools, expert guidance and thematic case studies aimed at integrating river-sensitive urban planning in cities. Launched in 2021, the RCA is led by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and currently has 145 member cities. It supports the preparation of Urban River Management Plans (URMPs); NMCG is steering the development of a URMP for the national capital.
