The Union Health Ministry has deployed a National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT) to Gujarat and Rajasthan to strengthen the response to the ongoing Chandipura Virus Disease (CHPV) outbreak, it said on 5 August 2026. The multidisciplinary team includes experts from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying. NCDC's Public Health Emergency Operations Centre has been activated to support the team, alongside surveillance under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
