NHRC names winners of its tenth short film competition on human rights; 'Doodh Ganga' from J&K wins first prize
The National Human Rights Commission announced on 27 February 2025 the seven winners of its tenth annual short film competition on human rights, with J&K's 'Doodh Ganga - Valley's Dying Lifeline' winning the ₹2 lakh first prize.

The NHRC chose seven winners out of a record 303 entries in its tenth annual competition for short films on human rights (2024). The first prize of ₹2 lakh went to 'Doodh Ganga - Valley's Dying Lifeline' by Abdul Rashid Bhat of Jammu & Kashmir, on pollution of the Doodh Ganga river. 'Fight for Rights' by Kadarappa Raju of Andhra Pradesh, on child marriage and education, won the ₹1.5 lakh second prize, and the silent film 'GOD' by R. Ravichandran of Tamil Nadu, on the value of drinking water, won the ₹1 lakh third prize. Four films got special mention with ₹50,000 each.
