NHAI builds 5,614 km of highways and records its highest capex in FY 2024-25

The National Highways Authority of India built 5,614 km of national highways in FY 2024-25 against a target of 5,150 km, and its capital expenditure reached an all-time high of over ₹2.5 lakh crore, the Road Transport Ministry said on 2 April 2025.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) constructed 5,614 km of national highways in the financial year 2024-25, against a target of 5,150 km, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said on 2 April 2025. NHAI's capital expenditure reached an all-time high of over ₹2,50,000 crore (provisional) against a target of ₹2,40,000 crore, about 21% more than the ₹2,07,000 crore of 2023-24. Using Toll Operate Transfer, an Infrastructure Investment Trust and toll securitisation, NHAI monetised assets worth ₹28,724 crore during the year, including its highest-ever single-round InvIT receipt of ₹17,738 crore.
