NHAI caps supervision at 10 projects per 'Engineer' for consultancy firms

On 12 June 2025 in New Delhi, NHAI restricted consultancy firms to a maximum of 10 National Highway projects per designated 'Engineer' for supervision of construction or maintenance.

Summary

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) restricted consultancy firms working as Independent Engineer, Authority Engineer or Supervision Consultant to a maximum of 10 projects per designated 'Engineer' on 12 June 2025, to improve the quality and supervision of National Highway projects. NHAI said engineers handling too many projects may be unable to fulfil contractual obligations. Detailed clauses were added to the guidelines for consultancy firms on projects under Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode.
