New 91-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj unveiled at Rajkot Fort, Sindhudurg

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis unveiled a new 91-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot Fort in Malvan, Sindhudurg district, on 11 May 2025, replacing the 35-foot statue that collapsed in August 2024.

The statue is 91 feet tall including a 10-foot pedestal and was built by sculptor Ram Sutar's firm, Ram Sutar Art Creations, which also built the Statue of Unity. It replaces the earlier 35-foot statue at the same site, which collapsed in August 2024. The CM said the structure is designed to last at least 100 years and that maintenance has been entrusted to the builders.
