On 10 October 2025 the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) of MeitY's Digital India Corporation signed an MoU with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited for advisory and technical support to Bharat Taxi, described as a first-of-its-kind cooperative-driven, citizen-first national ride-hailing platform to be launched in December 2025. NeGD will help integrate the platform with DigiLocker, UMANG and API Setu for identity verification and service delivery, and advise on cybersecurity, data protection, governance and multilingual, accessible design. Bharat Taxi is jointly promoted by cooperative and financial institutions including NCDC, IFFCO, AMUL, KRIBHCO, NAFED, NABARD, NDDB and NCEL.
