The National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), New Delhi, was approved by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) on 6 December 2024 as an Athlete Passport Management Unit (APMU) to manage the Athlete Biological Passport (ABP); the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the approval on 12 December 2024. The ABP monitors an athlete's biological markers, such as blood and steroid profiles, over time. India is now part of a group of 17 WADA-approved APMUs worldwide, and its APMU will serve India as well as anti-doping organisations of neighbouring countries.
