NCPCR campaign rescues over 3,800 children from child labour

On 4 September 2026, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights said its Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign (12 June–31 August 2026) rescued over 3,800 children and led to 575 FIRs.

Summary

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) announced on 4 September 2026 that its special Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation Campaign rescued more than 3,800 children from child labour. The NCPCR, a statutory body under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, ran the campaign from 12 June to 31 August 2026 with State governments, District Magistrates, labour departments and police. More than 575 FIRs were registered during the campaign, and States were asked to report on rehabilitation, compensation and educational mainstreaming of rescued children.
