The National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Department of Space, on 23 September 2025. The MoU aims to set up two Direct Broadcast Network (DBNet) stations, one in Delhi/NCR and the other in Chennai, as part of Mission Mausam. DBNet stations receive data from Low Earth Orbit satellites in real time, supporting numerical weather prediction, cyclone monitoring and climate research.
