The IMD Director General said the well-marked low-pressure area over east central Bay of Bengal was very likely to intensify into a depression by the morning of 22 October and into a cyclonic storm by 23 October 2024. The Chief Secretaries of Odisha and West Bengal described preparatory measures; fishermen were asked not to venture out to sea, and NDRF kept 14 teams in West Bengal.
