The National Cadet Corps (NCC) expedition team scaled Mount Everest on 18 May 2025 and returned safely to Base Camp on 19 May. The ten cadets — five girls and five boys, all novices selected through a national process — had an average age of 19 years; the youngest was 16. They prepared through a pre-Everest expedition to Mt Abi Gamin and winter and technical training at the Army Mountaineering Institute, Siachen Base Camp. The expedition, led by Colonel Amit Bisht, was flagged off by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh from South Block, New Delhi on 3 April 2025. It is the NCC's third Everest ascent, after 2013 and 2016.
