NAVYA skilling initiative for adolescent girls launched in Sonbhadra

On 24 June 2025 in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, the Women and Child Development and Skill Development ministries launched NAVYA, a vocational training initiative for adolescent girls.

Summary

The Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship launched NAVYA (Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls) in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh on 24 June 2025. MoS (IC) Jayant Chaudhary and MoS Savitri Thakur launched the programme, which trains girls aged 16 to 18 years mainly in non-traditional and emerging job roles. Training uses short-term courses under PMKVY and resources of PM Vishwakarma. The pilot phase covers 27 Northeastern and Aspirational districts in 19 states.
