National Gopal Ratna Awards 2024 announced; special award for North Eastern States added

On 23 November 2024, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD) announced the winners of the National Gopal Ratna Awards 2024, one of the highest national awards in the livestock and dairy sector. Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh is to present them on National Milk Day, 26 November 2024, in New Delhi. The awards are given in three categories: best dairy farmer rearing indigenous cattle/buffalo breeds, best Artificial Insemination Technician and best dairy cooperative/milk producer company/dairy FPO. From this year, a special award for North Eastern Region States has been added in all three categories. In the dairy farmer category, the first rank went to Smt. Renu of Jhajjar, Haryana, and NER special awards went to farmers from Bajali and Morigaon in Assam. The cash prizes are ₹5 lakh for first rank, ₹3 lakh for second, ₹2 lakh for third and ₹2 lakh for the NER special award.
