Bhupender Yadav launches guidelines for ₹767-crore National Coastal Mission 2.0

On 30 September 2026 Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav launched the guidelines for National Coastal Mission 2.0, a ₹767-crore Central Sector Scheme to run till 2030-31 across nine coastal States and four Union Territories.

Summary

NCM 2.0 aims to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of India's coastal regions and unlock the potential of the Blue Economy. It covers vulnerability assessments, ecosystem restoration, pollution management, biodiversity conservation, sustainable tourism, spatial planning, research and capacity building. It will be implemented with coastal States/UTs and stakeholders.
