The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) has reached 34.54 crore citizens, including more than 13.70 crore youth and 10.64 crore women, through over 31.40 lakh awareness and outreach activities, according to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. Secretary Sudhansh Pant said more than 1.67 lakh master volunteers, community leaders and personnel have been trained, and over 755 new de-addiction facilities, including District De-addiction Centres, Addiction Treatment Facilities and centres in jails, have been set up in the last two years. Financial help to States and UTs comes under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR), and an NMBA 2.0 mobile app helps citizens locate the nearest de-addiction centre. The Ministry aims to get over 10 crore citizens to take a national mass pledge against drug abuse. The NMBA was launched on 15 August 2020 in 272 most vulnerable districts and extended to all districts from 15 August 2023.
