Andhra CM inaugurates ₹25 crore TTD food and water analysis laboratory at Tirumala

On 21 March 2026 Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated a ₹25 crore Food and Water Analysis Laboratory set up by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams with FSSAI support, to test prasadam ingredients and water for pilgrims.

Summary

The 12,000 sq ft laboratory at Tirumala, set up by TTD at a cost of ₹25 crore with support from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, is described as the first temple-proximate laboratory of its kind in the country. It has over 50 instruments for chemical and microbiological testing, including an electronic tongue and electronic nose imported from France for ₹3.5 crore, and will test raw materials for Srivari Prasadam and Anna Prasadam. The lab can analyse 1,000 to 1,500 samples a month.
