Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the digitisation of old manual birth and death certificates in Kohima on 31 January 2026. Following directions of the Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI), Nagaland's Department of Economics and Statistics had started online registration of births and deaths in April 2022. Manual certificates are to be discontinued and old genuine records will be digitised through the ORGI portal (dc.crsorgi.gov.in).
