The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, with the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, announced on 6 June 2025 a new category under the National Awards for e-Governance (NAeG) 2025 to recognise digital initiatives by Panchayati Raj Institutions, titled 'Grassroots Level Initiatives for Deepening Service Delivery at Gram Panchayats or Equivalent Traditional Local Bodies'. Four Gram Panchayats won from over 1.45 lakh entries received from 26 States and Union Territories after evaluation at the block, district, state and national levels. Rohini Gram Panchayat in Dhule district, Maharashtra won the Gold Award and West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat in West Tripura district, Tripura won Silver, while Palsana (Surat, Gujarat) and Suakati (Kendujhar, Odisha) received Jury Awards. NAeG 2025 awards carry a trophy, a certificate and a financial incentive of ₹10 lakh for Gold and ₹5 lakh for Silver awardees.
