On 9 October 2025 Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw visited key construction sites of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (bullet train) project at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad. The Sabarmati HSR station, the corridor's terminal, is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's charkha at Sabarmati Ashram and is being built over 45,000 sq m. The Sabarmati multimodal hub links the HSR station with Sabarmati railway station, Metro and BRTS and carries a stainless-steel mural of the Dandi March. The Sabarmati rolling stock depot, spread over 84 hectares, is the largest of the three depots being built. Of the 508 km corridor, 325 km of viaduct and 400 km of pier work, 17 river bridges and 216 km of track bed have been completed.
