Cabinet raises Rabi MSP for 2027-28; wheat at ₹2,610 per quintal, safflower gets highest hike
On 30 September 2026 the CCEA chaired by PM Modi raised MSPs of all mandated Rabi crops for Marketing Season 2027-28: wheat ₹2,610 per quintal (+₹25), with the highest absolute increase for safflower (+₹675) followed by rapeseed & mustard (+₹413).

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved higher Minimum Support Prices for six Rabi crops for RMS 2027-28. Wheat MSP is ₹2,610, barley ₹2,286, gram ₹5,958, lentil (masur) ₹7,390, rapeseed & mustard ₹6,613 and safflower ₹7,215 per quintal. The expected margin over the all-India weighted average cost of production is highest for wheat (106%), in line with the 2018-19 Budget principle of MSP at least 1.5 times the cost.
