MoSPI holds workshop in Kochi to build coastal States' capacity on Ocean Accounts

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), with the Directorate of Economics and Statistics of the Government of Kerala, held a one-day workshop on 'Capacity Building of Coastal States on Development of Ocean Accounts' in Kochi on 29 August 2025. Officers from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, coastal States and UTs, and institutions such as CMFRI, INCOIS and the National Remote Sensing Centre took part. MoSPI said Ocean Ecosystem Accounts, compiled in line with the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) framework, complement GDP by tracking the extent, condition, services and assets of coastal ecosystems.
