On 3 February 2025, in Parliament in New Delhi, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh told the Rajya Sabha in a written reply that the National Metadata Structure (NMDS 2.0) is designed so that data and information are uniformly represented, with clarity on data sources and collection methods and better discoverability of datasets such as censuses, surveys and administrative data. NMDS 2.0 has been shared with ministries and departments for implementation.
