The Ministry of Defence signed contracts with Bharat Forge Limited for the 155mm/52 calibre Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) and with Tata Advanced Systems Limited for High Mobility Vehicle 6x6 gun-towing vehicles, worth about ₹6,900 crore in total, at South Block, New Delhi, on 26 March 2025. ATAGS will replace older, smaller-calibre guns in the Army's artillery regiments. It is the Indian Army's first major procurement of towed guns from the private sector. The project director of ATAGS from DRDO's Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune, was felicitated. With these contracts, MoD's capital procurement contracts in 2024-25 reached ₹1.40 lakh crore.
