Defence Ministry signs ₹586 crore contract for Auxiliary Power Units for T-72 and T-90 tanks
On 21 September 2026, the Ministry of Defence signed a ₹586 crore contract with Accurate Industrial Controls Pvt Ltd to procure Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for the Army's T-72 and T-90 tanks.
Summary
The Auxiliary Power Unit is an alternate source of electric power for a tank's fire control system, firing circuit, gun stabilisation system and other ancillaries. The Ministry of Defence said the indigenously developed APUs, developed through industry-led research under the Make-II route, will improve the readiness and reliability of the Army's mechanised formations. The contract was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
