The Ministry of Defence opened the online portal sainikschoolsociety.in on 15 May 2025 for the fourth round of registration of eligible schools, open until 14 June 2025, under the Government's initiative to set up 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with state governments, NGOs and the private sector under the Sainik Schools Society. The Ministry has so far approved 86 private, NGO and state government schools as new Sainik Schools. These schools keep their board affiliation, function under the Sainik Schools Society and add an Academic-Plus curriculum on the Sainik School pattern.
