The Ministry of Defence signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on 12 December 2024 for the procurement of 12 Su-30MKI aircraft along with associated equipment, at an approximate cost of ₹13,500 crore inclusive of taxes and duties. The aircraft will have an indigenous content of 62.6%, enhanced by the indigenisation of many components to be made by the Indian defence industry. They will be manufactured at HAL's Nasik division and will enhance the operational capability of the Indian Air Force.
