MNRE informed on 29 July 2026 that its New Solar Power Scheme under PM-JANMAN and DAJGUA provides 100% Central Financial Assistance for off-grid solar electrification of PVTG and tribal households.

Summary

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is implementing the New Solar Power Scheme (for PVTG and Tribal Habitations/Villages) under PM-JANMAN and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) where grid supply is not techno-economically feasible. It gives 100% Central Financial Assistance: a 0.3 kW off-grid solar system per household (Rs 50,000 or actual cost, whichever is lower), Rs 1 lakh per Multi-Purpose Centre in PVTG areas, and Rs 1 lakh per kW (up to 20 kW) for public institutions under DAJGUA. The scheme targets one lakh un-electrified households and 1,500 MPCs; as of 30 June 2026, 11,838 households were electrified and Rs 57.10 crore CFA released.
