MNRE amends ALMM Order: solar cells must come from List-II from 1 June 2026

On 10 December 2024, in India, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) announced an amendment to the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (ALMM) Order, 2019, introducing List-II for solar PV cells. From 1 June 2026, solar PV modules used in projects must source their cells from ALMM List-II. Projects whose last date of bid submission was before the order are exempt. Thin-film solar modules made in integrated module manufacturing units will be deemed compliant with the List-II cell requirement.
