MNRE extends ALMM List-II exemption for net-metering and open-access projects to December 2026
MNRE said on 18 July 2026 that there is no change in ALMM List-II policy for solar PV cells, but net-metering and open-access RE projects can commission without ALMM List-II cells till 31 December 2026.
Summary
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) decided on 18 July 2026 that there will be no change in the policy on the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II for solar PV cells and no blanket extension for solar projects. MNRE, however, gave a limited window under which net-metering projects and open-access renewable energy projects can commission with exemption from ALMM List-II till 31 December 2026; this relief was earlier available only till 31 May 2026. MNRE said the step also protects investments of standalone solar PV module manufacturers by creating additional demand.
