Mission Golden Spice – Integrated Lakadong Turmeric Value Chain Enhancement Project is a ₹175.45-crore convergence-led initiative for turmeric cultivation and value-chain development in Meghalaya, launched by Union DoNER Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. Mission Golden Spice runs as a five-year roadmap (2025–2030) in two phases: Value Chain Strengthening, then Expansion and Scale-up. Mission Golden Spice is anchored by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) and the North Eastern Council (NEC), with convergence across the Agriculture, Food Processing and Commerce ministries, APEDA, the Spices Board, the National Turmeric Board, ICAR, NABARD and others. Lakadong turmeric is GI-tagged and has a curcumin content of 7–10%.
