Mirabai Chanu completes CWG gold hat-trick; silvers for Rishikanta Singh and Raja Muthupandi

On 26 July 2026 at Glasgow, Mirabai Chanu won the women's 48 kg weightlifting gold with a Games-record 190 kg – her third straight Commonwealth Games title – while Rishikanta Singh (men's 60 kg) and Raja Muthupandi (men's 65 kg) won silver.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu, 31, lifted 85 kg in snatch and 105 kg in clean and jerk for a 190 kg total, setting Games records in the snatch, clean and jerk and total; her snatch was also a Commonwealth record. It was India's first gold of Glasgow 2026 and her third consecutive CWG gold after Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022, and her fourth CWG medal overall (she won silver at Glasgow 2014). Earlier, Chanambam Rishikanta Singh won silver in the men's 60 kg with 264 kg (a Games-record 121 kg snatch and 143 kg clean and jerk). Raja Muthupandi took silver in the men's 65 kg with a 286 kg total, behind Malaysia's Aznil Bidin, who won with a Games-record 299 kg.
