Summary

The National Commission for Minorities (NCM) celebrated Minorities Rights Day on 18 December 2024. The day marks the United Nations' adoption on 18 December 1992 of the declaration on the rights of persons belonging to national or ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities. Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian was the chief guest, and NCM Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura presided. A book on 'Sikhism' was released, a quiz was launched and an exhibition on schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs and the work of NCM was held, with leaders of six minority communities speaking.
