India's fourth-generation deep-ocean submersible Matsya-6000 completed wet tests at L&T's Kattupalli shipbuilding facility near Chennai, held from 27 January to 12 February 2025.

Matsya-6000, India's fourth-generation human scientific submersible being developed by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) under the Deep Ocean Mission's Samudrayan project, completed wet tests at the L&T Shipbuilding facility at Kattupalli Port near Chennai between 27 January and 12 February 2025, the Ministry of Earth Sciences said. The wet tests followed integrated dry tests over a 500-metre operational range. The submersible carries three people in a 2.1-metre spherical hull, and a 500-metre depth demonstration is planned by the end of 2025.
