Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal visited Nepal on 22 April 2025 with Nepal's Energy Minister Dipak Khadka. At the 900 MW Arun-3 Hydroelectric Project in Sankhuwasabha district, being developed by SJVN Limited, he inaugurated the start of electromechanical works at the powerhouse. In Kathmandu, POWERGRID and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) signed an MoU for two joint venture companies, one in each country, to build the 400 kV Inaruwa (Nepal)–New Purnea (India) and 400 kV Dododhara (Nepal)–Bareilly (India) double-circuit transmission systems.
