On 14 October 2024, off the coast of Visakhapatnam, the Sea Phase of Exercise MALABAR 2024 commenced. Warships, embarked helicopters and long-range maritime patrol aircraft from Australia, India, Japan and the USA exercised together in the Bay of Bengal, covering surface, sub-surface and air warfare. The sea phase was to culminate on 18 October 2024 with the closing ceremony.
