Polling ends in Maharashtra and Jharkhand Phase 2, along with by-polls in 15 seats and Nanded

On 20 November 2024, all 288 Maharashtra assembly seats voted in a single phase and 38 Jharkhand seats voted in Phase 2, concluding both assembly elections, the ECI said.

Summary

On 20 November 2024, polling was held in all 288 assembly constituencies of Maharashtra in a single phase and in 38 constituencies across 12 districts of Jharkhand in Phase 2, concluding the two assembly elections. By-polls were also held in 15 assembly constituencies, including 9 in Uttar Pradesh, 4 in Punjab, Kedarnath in Uttarakhand and Palakkad in Kerala, and in the Nanded Lok Sabha constituency. To counter low urban turnout, more than 1,185 polling stations were set up in high-rise buildings and housing societies in Maharashtra. Seizures since the elections were announced stood at ₹1,139 crore. Counting was scheduled for 23 November.
