Kumaraswamy began a three-day visit to West Bengal on 12 July 2026 by reviewing the IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Burnpur, one of the country's oldest integrated steel plants under the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Kumaraswamy inaugurated a Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) water reservoir with a storage capacity of 84,000 cubic metres, built for COB-10 and to support the plant's future 4.08 MTPA expansion project. Kumaraswamy also inspected the COB-12 coke oven battery project. The plant produced 2.9 million tonnes of hot metal in 2025-26, reaching 108% of its rated hot metal and crude steel capacity.
