The seventh Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) were virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 4 May 2025 at Patna's Patliputra Sports Complex, in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya. The Games feature 27 medal disciplines and one demonstration sport and end on 15 May. It is the first major multi-discipline sporting event hosted by Bihar, with competitions in Patna, Rajgir, Bhagalpur, Gaya and Begusarai, and New Delhi. Sepaktakraw is a medal sport for the first time in KIYG, and esports is a demonstration event. More than 10,000 participants, including over 6,000 athletes, are taking part. The Prime Minister said this year's sports budget is about ₹4,000 crore.
