On 21 February 2025 Kerala qualified for their maiden Ranji Trophy final, 68 years after their debut in the tournament, when their semi-final against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, was drawn and Kerala won on first-innings lead. Replying to Kerala's 457, Gujarat needed 28 runs with three wickets in hand on the final morning, but left-arm spinner Aditya Sarwate took all three remaining wickets to bowl them out for 455; the last wicket fell when Arzan Nagwaswalla's shot ricocheted off short leg Salman Nizar's helmet into captain Sachin Baby's hands. Priyank Panchal had made 148 for Gujarat. Kerala had reached the semi-final on a one-run first-innings lead over Jammu and Kashmir, and were to meet Vidarbha in the final in Nagpur from 26 February.
