Keel laid for fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel at Goa Shipyard

On 9 June 2025 in Goa, the keel of Yard 1283, the fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) being built by Goa Shipyard Ltd, was laid.

Summary

Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL) held the keel-laying ceremony of Yard 1283, the fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV) it is building, on 9 June 2025, with Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, as Chief Guest and GSL CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay present. Eleven NGOPVs are under construction against contracts concluded on 30 March 2023: seven by GSL, Goa, and four by GRSE, Kolkata. The ships, of about 3,000 tonnes, are designed for coastal defence and surveillance, search and rescue, protection of offshore assets and anti-piracy missions.
