Kavach has been installed on 3,103 route km and on 4,277 locomotives, with work in progress on 24,427 route km. Under version 4.0, 1,638 route km have been commissioned on corridors such as Delhi–Mumbai and Delhi–Howrah, including 190 route km on Prayagraj–Kanpur. Railways developed an indigenous Universal Braking Algorithm to standardise braking curves across manufacturers, and an AI-based centralised monitoring platform, SURAKSHA. The plan is to add 9,000 route km in two years and then about 10,000 route km a year.
