Kavach 4.0 commissioned on 738 route km on the Delhi–Mumbai and Delhi–Howrah routes

The Railway Ministry said on 5 December 2025 that Kavach 4.0 has been commissioned on 738 route km: 633 Rkm on the Palwal–Mathura–Nagda section of the Delhi–Mumbai route and 105 Rkm on the Howrah–Bardhaman section of the Delhi–Howrah route.

Kavach 4.0, India's indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system, has been commissioned on 738 route km, the Railway Ministry said on 5 December 2025: 633 Rkm on the Palwal–Mathura–Nagda section of the Delhi–Mumbai route and 105 Rkm on the Howrah–Bardhaman section of the Delhi–Howrah route. Kavach automatically applies brakes if the loco pilot fails to keep within speed limits, needs SIL-4 safety certification, and was adopted as the National ATP system in July 2020; RDSO approved the version 4.0 specification on 16 July 2024. Trackside Kavach work has been taken up on 15,512 Rkm covering the Golden Quadrilateral, Golden Diagonal, high-density network and other identified sections.
