About 300 to 350 kg of sanitary waste is collected daily from hospitals, clinics, households and other facilities. Karad Municipal Council worked with women's groups on awareness and installed separate red bins in public toilets; schools were encouraged to install sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators. The waste, collected by the council free of charge, is processed at a Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility run by the Karad Hospital Association, with a centralised incinerator that reaches up to 1200°C.
