Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on 18 August 2026 virtually inaugurated the gauge-converted Kailaras-Sabalgarh-Birpur rail section in Madhya Pradesh and extended the Gwalior-Kailaras train to Birpur.

They also flagged off the extension of the Gwalior-Kailaras train to Birpur, giving Birpur, Vijaypur and Sabalgarh a direct rail link with Gwalior. Vaishnaw said residents of more than 100 villages in Morena and Sheopur districts would benefit.
