National Jute Board highlights Jute Crop Information System built with ISRO: BHUVAN JUMP app and PATSAN platform
On 11 May 2026 the Textiles Ministry described how the National Jute Board has run the Jute Crop Information System since 2023 with ISRO and the Jute Corporation of India, using the BHUVAN JUMP app and the PATSAN web platform.
Summary
The Jute Crop Information System (JCIS), which combines satellite mapping, weather analytics and field inputs to monitor jute, has been implemented by the National Jute Board (NJB) since 2023 with ISRO and the Jute Corporation of India, the Ministry of Textiles said on 11 May 2026. Two tools have been built under it: BHUVAN JUMP, a mobile app for on-field jute monitoring, and PATSAN (Prospective Assessment of Jute Using Mobile App-Based Field Observations), a web platform for near-real-time jute surveillance and analytics. JCIS replaces fragmented, manual crop estimates with geo-referenced data and helps detect crop stress from floods, droughts and pests.
