A joint expedition of instructors from JIM&WS Pahalgam, NIM Uttarkashi and HMI Darjeeling summited Mt Merag-III (6,480 m) and Mt Kangju Kangri (6,710 m), the highest peaks in Ladakh's Pangong Tso region, the Defence Ministry said on 4 August 2025.

A joint expedition team of instructors from three National Mountaineering Institutes, the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM&WS) Pahalgam, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Uttarkashi and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) Darjeeling, summited Mt Merag-III (6,480 m) and Mt Kangju Kangri (6,710 m), the highest peaks in the Pangong Tso region of Ladakh, the Ministry of Defence said on 4 August 2025. The expedition was flagged off and led by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal of JIM&WS Pahalgam, on 24 July 2025 at Sonamarg.
