Jitendra Singh announces Regional Meteorological Centre for Jammu

Summary

Union Minister Jitendra Singh announced the establishment of a Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Jammu at an event in Jammu on 10 January 2025 commemorating the 150th anniversary of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Jitendra Singh noted that the Srinagar Meteorology Centre, which has completed more than 100 years, is recognised as a Centennial Centre by the World Meteorological Organization. Jammu and Kashmir now has double the number of Automatic Weather Stations it had a decade ago, along with X-band radars in Jammu, Srinagar and Leh, among other places.
