The BJP won 21, and its allies AJSU Party, LJP (Ram Vilas) and JD(U) one each, taking the NDA to 24; the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha won 1. The Hindu reported that this was the JMM's best electoral performance in the State and the first time in Jharkhand's history that the same leadership returned to power consecutively. Hemant Soren won the Barhait seat by 39,791 votes, defeating the BJP's Gamliyel Hembrom (The Indian Express, News18).
